How It Works

Holds Pickup
As of July 6, you can only pick up holds that were available for you before the closure. If you do not wish to pick up your holds, please cancel your hold items on your account.

eMail Notification

You will receive notifications that your holds are ready for pickup by phone or email.

Book an Appointment

Once you receive the notification, please book an appointment for picking up your holds by contacting AskMPL or by calling 905-513-7977. Please do not visit a branch without an appointment.

Arrive at Branch

Once you arrive at the branch within your appointment time, park in a designated curbside pickup parking spot. Call the number on the sign and our staff will prepare your items.

Please remain in your car and wait for staff to come out to your car. Staff will place your holds in a bag beside your car. After our staff leaves, you are free to take your holds into the car.

Returns will be accepted starting on July 15. Please note we are NOT accepting toys, digital media lab equipment, Lendery items and donations. You do not need an appointment to return your items.

Arrive at Branch

Park your car at the free parking spot in front of the branch.

There will be bins in front of the dedicated drop-off area in front of the library accepting returns during the hours listed above. Place the items directly into the bins. Please do not wrap or package your items in bags, elastics, etc. to conserve space in the bins.

Physical Distance

Please retain a physical distance of at least two metres from anyone else in the area.

Placing New Holds

Starting on July 15, you can place new holds and arrange for contactless curbside pickup. You will only be able to place holds on materials that are available at the three servicing branches (Markham Village, Thornhill Village and Unionville libraries).
