Our e-resources are specifically designed to support children’s success in reading, literacy development and research skills. Although there are lots to choose from, here are 5 excellent resources to get you started: 

1. BookFlix – Connecting Stories with Real-World Knowledge (Kindergarten to Grade 3)

       BookFlix offers a large selection of animated storybooks as well as nonfiction texts which helps children make connections between stories and real-life topics. It also includes interactive activities that strengthen comprehension and vocabulary. This dual approach supports both literacy and critical thinking which makes it an excellent resource to support children with their reading skills. 

2. TumbleBook Library – Building Early Literacy Skills (Kindergarten to Grade 4) 

        This e-resource offers an engaging platform for young learners.  TumbleBook Library features animated videos, read-aloud storybooks along with games and puzzles. This interactive format helps children improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, and listening skills. TumbleBook Library also offers a separate collection in French. 

3. Gale In Context: Elementary – Research Made Easy (Kindergarten to Grade 5) 

       This is a user-friendly e-resources that offers reliable information for younger students who are learning to do research on a topic. It provides age-appropriate news articles, images and topic overviews aligned with the Ontario curriculum. Also, it offers options to listen to the document as it reads to you. 

4. tvoLearn (Kindergarten to Grade 12) 

       This e-resource provides curriculum aligned resources and engaging lessons for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12.  It provides interactive, free resources for both educators and parents regarding curriculum related topics which will be covered in each Grade. Lessons for other subjects such as Math, Science & Technology, Social Studies, The Arts as well as Health and Physical Education are also available. 

5. World Book Kids – Reliable Information for School Projects (Kindergarten to Grade 5) 

      World Book Kids is an online encyclopedia designed for elementary students. It features easy-to-read articles, images, and interactive activities that make learning fun and accessible. The platform provides simple navigation, easy-to-understand articles in various topics, pictures and videos, an exclusive platform to learn about the world of animals, science projects, maps of around the world, etc. There are also interactive games as well as insightful information to support students with their research.
