Mobile Apps for Library Services
Many of the Markham Public Library’s resources and services are available through mobile apps.
You will need an MPL card and your PIN to access most of these resources.
The MPL Mobile app makes it easy to find and discover titles, check availability of titles, place holds and manage your account. You can even scan the ISBN barcode on a book in a store to see if MPL owns the title. You can also display your library card barcode in the app to check out items.
Libby is the new app from OverDrive for reading eBooks and listening to audiobooks. Libby is simple to use and it makes borrowing OverDrive titles easier.
Download Overdrive eBooks and eAudiobooks directly to your mobile devices. You need a free Adobe ID to authorize your mobile device. The OverDrive app is the "classic" app and is compatible with more devices including Kindle Fire and Windows mobile devices. If you use accessibility features or like to read your books on a computer (vs mobile device) we recommend the classic Overdrive app. Otherwise we suggest the Libby app to access the OverDrive collection.
hoopla is a digital media service offering movies, music, comics, eBooks, eAudiobooks and TV shows to stream in your web browser or enjoy offline on your mobile device. The content is always available without waitlists.
Learn a language with Mango Language Learning app. Includes 18 ESL courses and over 60 foreign language courses. You need to create a free account at the Mango Languages page on the MPL website.
This app gives you instant access to EBSCO eBooks, wherever you are. It offers hundreds of thousands of exciting titles from world leaders in publishing.
