Musical Instruments Lending Library

Markham Village Library offers a Musical Instrument Library, a special collection of musical instruments that customers can checkout and use at home.

Ever want to learn to play an instrument? Guitar, violin or maybe drum? You can now borrow instruments for free from MPL's Musical Instrument Library. There's even a sound booth for you to record your own music or podcast. All you need to do is sign our Special Collections Agreement, opens a new window [PDF] and you are ready to start borrowing. Call Markham Village to check if the instrument is available before heading over to pick it up. To use the sound booth, you can simply email our Digital Literacy Specialist, opens a new window to reserve it.

Special Collections Agreement

Sound Booth

Want to record your own music or podcast? Reserve and use our state-of-the-art sound booth for FREE! The sound booth has to be booked in advance and can be booked up to 3 hours per day. It's equipped with an iMac with sound production and mixing software and all of the necessary equipment to record and mix music or audio production of any kind.

How to Book the Sound Booth:

  1. Agree to our “Special Collections Agreement [PDF],” at the Markham Village Library front desk
  1. Sign-up for a City of Markham XPLOR Account

Note: Customers under 13 years of age will need to be accompanied by an adult to use the sound booth.
