2021 was an unprecedented year for books facing challenges in schools and public libraries, with many of the most heated discussions taking place in the United States. At Markham Public Library we celebrate every person's ability to read what they want to read without facing censorship.
To celebrate Freedom to Read 2022 we asked for your favorite books! With nearly 200 submissions there was a lot of enthusiasm for reading!
During the month of February we gathered and shared your favorite books, and photos of you & your books! We have taken all your titles and made some reading lists:
- Markham's Favourites: Adult Fiction
- Markham's Favourites Adult Non-Fiction
- Markham's YA Favourites
- Markham's Kids Favourites
We also noticed a few people share a love of the same book!
- Harry Potter Series: 7 votes
- Born a Crime: 3 Votes
- Wings of Fire: 3 Votes
- Educated: 2 Votes
- Warriors: 2 Votes
- Anxious People: 2 Votes
- Cat Kid Comic Club: 2 Votes
Thank you to everyone who participated in our contest, and congratulations to our winner who was one of the people who submitted Anxious People by Fredrik Backman
