February marks the start of the tax-filing season, which means it's time to gather all the necessary documents and file your tax return. With returns accepted until April 30th, there are several filing options for individuals and families to consider. You can self-file through online pay-what-you-can or free software, or opt for paper filing by downloading the necessary forms from the Canada Revenue Agency website. Additionally, you can hire a tax professional or find a volunteer-run free tax clinic.
In Markham, local non-profit organizations run free tax clinics from February to April to assist eligible individuals with their returns. Eligibility criteria include older adults, housing-insecure individuals, modest-income individuals, newcomers, persons with disabilities, and Indigenous Peoples. We have compiled a list of free tax clinics in Markham to help you file your return for 2024. Many of the below clinics offer services in languages other than English.
