Get ready for an adventure in reading and rewards! Each week, dive into the chance to win by logging your reading minutes or tackling exciting challenges in Beanstack with Summer Reading Club. But wait, there's more! The ultimate treasure awaits those who devour over 12 hours of books over six weeks—a grand prize fit for champions of the page-turning realm!

Join us at our weekly meet-ups where the magic of reading comes alive. Engage with our library staff, swap stories, and explore the wonders of crafts and STEAM activities. It's not just about reading—it's about discovering, creating, and having a blast along the way!

The Summer Reading Club runs from July 1, 2024 to August 12, 2024 for children from preschool to Grade 8.

Reasons to Join SRC

  1. Weekly prizes: you can win a weekly prize of Amazon or Chapters gift card or $25 worth of books!
  2. Grand prizes: you can win a grand prize of either a Celestron telescope, sphero, Lego set, Gravitrax Pro Starter set, or a digital camera!

Here is how to participate

Download the Beanstack app (and search for Markham Public Library) or visit

  1. Register for all readers in your family.
  2. Track minutes and activities using the app to collect virtual badges and be entered into a draw for a weekly prize. 
  3. Download and print colouring sheets
  4. Download and print the activity and crafts
  5. You can collect a complimentary TD Summer Reading Club notebook, complete with stickers, as an extra enjoyable resource for your child.  Pick up yours at any of our branches.

For children who are unable to use print due to visual, learning, or physical disabilities and would like to participate in the Summer Reading Club, we provide activities and worksheets with large fonts whenever possible allowing you to choose what best suits your child's needs.

Additionally, we offer support for families needing accessible formats for their children.
