Summer Fun Starts At The Library!

We’re excited to be back in person this summer while continuing to offer virtual options.  However you want to spend time with us we have lots to add to your summer fun.

The Toy Library, opens a new window is back   

Visit us at the Aaniin Branch where we have a great variety of interactive toys you can borrow and play with at home.  Toys are geared towards preschool children and promote imaginative play and learning.  Toys may be borrowed for two weeks. 

All our branches also have a selection of toys for play while visiting the library.

Meet us outside

We’re celebrating summer and popping up at parks and community events all over Markham.  Join us for outdoor storytimes, StoryWalks, Storytime in the Forest and other activities throughout the summer.  Visit our events, opens a new window page for details.

Learn something new

You can now borrow a guitar or other musical instruments, opens a new window at the Markham Village Branch.  With your library card you can also access online lessons through Udemy, opens a new window that will help you learn to play that instrument!

Our makerspaces, opens a new window at Aaniin and Angus Glen branches have reopened offering an amazing collection of software and equipment to help you get creative.  Explore our 3d printers, digital sewing machine, Cricuts, laser engravers, digitizing equipment and more.  

Get active

Why not plan your next hike, trail walk, bike ride or swim at one of Ontario’s many provincial parks?  Borrow a free Ontario Parks day-use vehicle permit from MPL.

Looking to stay closer to home?  The Bike Lending Library, opens a new window is back!  Borrow bikes and bike accessories for adults or children.  Or try an electric bike or tandem bike! 

Join our Summer Reading programs

Have You Eaten Yet? by Cheuk Kwan is this year’s Markham Reads title.  Enjoy a culinary tour through the stories of Chinese entrepreneurs and restaurant owners around the world. 

The TD Summer Reading Club helps keep children excited about reading and learning over the summer.  Keep track of your reading, take part in lots of fun activities, and win prizes.
