Bullying Awareness Week: Resources for Every Age and Stage

Bullying is more than just playground teasing—it can affect people of all ages, in classrooms, online spaces, and even workplaces. This Bullying Awareness Week, let’s take time to recognize the signs, talk openly about the impact, and explore resources that help us respond with empathy and action.

Whether you’re a student, parent, educator, or professional, here are Canadian and library-based tools to help you learn more about bullying, prevention, and support.

Help Children Understand Bullying Through Stories 

Kids learn best when ideas are presented in ways that are both relatable and engaging. Stories can help children recognize bullying behaviours, understand the feelings involved, and explore positive solutions—while building empathy and resilience. Here are some digital resources for children:

  • Tumblebook Library: A fun way for kids to learn about bullying and kindness through picture books and chapter books.

  • World Book Discover: A trusted learning tool with simple, clear articles on bullying and cyberbullying, plus related eBook titles.   
    • Enter “bullying” in the search bar to find articles and ebooks for bullying and cyberbullying materials
    • Additionally, under the Life Skills tab on the top menu bar, select the “Dealing with Bullies” tile. It has a lot more information on bullying and ways to deal with it. 
  • World Book ebooks: A trusted learning tool with simple, clear articles and ebooks on bullying and cyberbullying as well.    
    • On the top listing of subject, select the “Health and Human Body” topic. See related books on the topic of bullying.

Teenage bullying: Learning to Cope and Speak Out

Teen bullying often takes new forms—especially online. Whether it’s cyberbullying, exclusion, or verbal harassment, knowing where to find trustworthy advice can make a huge difference. Resources for teens focus on empowerment, healthy boundaries, and how to get help without fear.

For Parents & Teachers: Tools to Guide and Support

Parents and teachers play a key role in preventing and addressing bullying. Having evidence-based information makes it easier to spot the warning signs, step in early, and create a safe environment where every child feels seen and supported.

For Adults: Recognizing and Addressing Workplace Bullying

Bullying doesn’t end at graduation. In workplaces, it can take the form of harassment, intimidation, or exclusion. Workplace bullying not only harms employees’ mental health—it also damages productivity and team trust. Resources for adults to recognize toxic behaviours, setting boundaries, and seeking help. Here are some resources that can help feel seen and heard:

    • Streaming documentaries and educational videos about bullying in various environments, including workplaces, can help feel seen and be connected with the characters.

    • Look for CBC documentaries and news segments on workplace harassment and anti-bullying efforts in Canada by typing in "bullying", "bully", "anti-bullying" in the search bar.
