Celebrate Canadian Islamic History Month with Markham Library!

October is the start of Canadian Islamic History Month! Since 2007, our Canadian federal government has declared October as a time to celebrate and spotlight the remarkable contributions of Muslim people in Canada.

Whether in the fields of art, sports, school, science, writing, and beyond, many Muslim Canadians have made groundbreaking  contributions that enrich our communities.

October is also a time to acknowledge that many Muslim individuals continue to face unfair treatment in workplaces and other areas of life due to racism and islamophobia. We must all work together to stop hate and make Canada a kind and safe place for everyone.

Here's what's happening at Markham Public Library for Canadian Islamic History Month:

Islamic Heritage Month Storytime and Activity with AEMS (Alliance of Educators for Muslim Students) YRDSB

Join us for a special Islamic Heritage Month Storytime and Activity with YRDSB, which will educate children and families about food from different cultures, followed by a discussion and activities run by YRDSB teachers from the Alliance of Educators for Muslim Students.
