How libraries help in the fight against COVID-19

In these uncertain times, libraries play more of an important role in the fight against COVID-19. Here are some ways libraries are helping locally and around the world.

Face Shields

Libraries in Canada and around the world are 3D printing face shield components for frontline workers. Markham Public Library partnered with Shop3D and their COVIDstop initiative in order to create face shields for frontline workers in Markham.

Fabric Masks

MPL has access to sewing machines, and have used them to create fabric masks for frontline workers. Using MPL’s Creation Studio, staff sewed fabric masks for frontline workers.

Remote Information Services

Libraries around the globe have moved to remote help. At MPL, AskMPL is being used to provide essential information services to a community that needs it more than ever.  Through ask a librarian/library worker services, people in the community still have access to finding the right information when they need it.
