You mostly see lists of literature by white authors, who are most likely straight as well. There are a few black writers that you should definitely have already heard of, these are historically well-known authors, such as Alexandre Dumas, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison and James Baldwin, who was also gay. Aside from those greats, you are probably missing out on a lot of great and different written content, by sticking to reading the usual suspects. Why not trying something new?
