Markham Public Library Announces 2024 Markham Reads Winner

Markham Public Library (MPL) is happy to announce that this year’s Markham Reads winning title is "The Heart of a Superfan: A Memoir of Grit, Love, Family, and Basketball" by Nav Bhatia.  Nav, known as the Raptors Superfan, shares his journey from India to Canada, where basketball became his refuge. His memoir is a testament to resilience and the impact of sports on life, showcasing his triumphs as an entrepreneur and humanitarian. This summer let's come together once again to explore the pages of Nav's inspiring story. 

From June to August, MPL will host a variety of exciting programs and events to explore the diverse themes in this book. Join us for an author talk with Nav Bhatia, small business workshops, book discussions,  community activities, and more! MPL invites everyone in the Markham community to connect with each other through these amazing literary experiences.

About Nav Bhatia:

Nav Bhatia is known for being the Toronto Raptor's superfan. He was the first fan in history to receive an official championship ring from the NBA. He is also an entrepreneur and philanthropist from the Toronto area. He runs the Nav Bhatia Superfan Foundation, which raises money to create basketball camps and courts for children worldwide. Bhatia was born in India and immigrated to Canada in 1984 amidst Anti-Sikh riots in India.
