Join the York Region Good Food Challenge

Save money, reduce food waste and protect the environment!

The Good Food Challenge, offered in partnership with York Region Food Network and York Region, helps families learn to plan and prepare healthy meals so that they can save money, time, and food while also reducing their impact on the environment around them.

As part of the Good Food Challenge, MPL  will be offering programs during Earth Month, including a Talk & Taste Culinary Workshop (April 30) and a Build a Soil-Arium workshop (May 4), to provide practical tip on how families and individuals can reduce their food waste.

From April 30 – May 4, you can also stop by any MPL location to pick up a pack of seeds and a composting activity booklet. We also invite you to join any of the programs mentioned above.

How to Participate:

  1. Pick up a seed kit - We have a Pizza Garden Kit and a Direct Sowing Kit for you to choose from. Pick one up from your nearest branch between April 30 to May 4 while quantities last.
  1. Pick up an activity kit - You can also pick up an activity kit which includes instructions on how to compost and fun activities like word search, bingo all related to composting.
