Markham Public Library Celebrates Earth Month

April is Earth Month and April 22 is Earth Day. During this month, people around the world celebrate the planet and at the same time demonstrate support for environmental protection. There are many issues affecting Earth right now such as pollution, animal extinction and accelerated climate change. Earth Month is a time to encourage sustainability, reduce one's own carbon footprint and educate oneself on how to co-exist peacefully with the rest of the Earth's creatures.

MPL is celebrating Earth Month with a number of events and activities:

Considering Pet Adoption

April 1 | 7 PM | ZOOM

Find out how to adopt a pet from the OSPCA and how to decide what pet is right for you. Also discover what it means to be a good pet parent (this will include what it means to bring an animal into your home and the research that should go into the commitment of said animal), enriching your animal at home, and what the resources are for someone who is thinking that they may need to surrender or rehome their pet.

Microplastics: Tiny But Dangerous

Human Library: Project Manager from Park People

Want to know what a project manager does and how to become one? Well, join us for a Human Library session with a Project Manager. Rachel is a Senior Project Manager with Park People, supporting the growth of the National Network through the management, administration and promotion of several granting programs and extensive outreach efforts to groups across Canada. Her extensive work experience has included a wide variety of fields, including food security, environmental non-profit, education, and community building.

Register for your tree seedling. You can pick-up your seedlings April 19th or April 20th during Earth Week from the Unionville Library.
