Plan Ahead: Kennedy Road Closed Between Steeles Avenue and 14th Avenue Nov. 20 to 24
We're sharing this notice to help you plan ahead and avoid delays during an upcoming road closure in your area. Thank you for your patience as important railway and road improvements are completed to keep the transportation network safe and in good condition.
Kennedy Road will be closed between Steeles Avenue and 14th Avenue so crews can repair the railway crossing and restore the road. This may result in delays when travelling to Milliken Mills Library & Community Centre, so please allow extra time.
Closure Dates and Times
Friday, November 20, 2026, at 10 PM to Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at 6 AM.
What You Need to Know
- Kennedy Road will be closed between Steeles Avenue and 14th Avenue.
- Metrolinx is repairing the railway crossing.
- After the railway work is complete, York Region will repair and restore the road.
- Drivers and pedestrians will need to follow detour routes.
- Homes and businesses in the area will remain accessible.
- Northbound traffic will be able to travel as far as Clayton Drive.
- Southbound traffic will be able to travel as far as Gorvette Road.
- Emergency vehicles will use alternate routes when needed.
Transit Changes
- Some York Region Transit (YRT) routes will be detoured. Visit yrt.ca before you travel.
- Some GO Transit services may be affected. Visit gotransit.com for the latest schedule information.
Allow Extra Travel Time
Delays are expected during the closure. Please plan your trip ahead of time and allow extra travel time. Signs will be posted to help drivers and pedestrians safely get around the work area.
