Celebrate Pride Month: 2SLGBTQ+ History & Trivia at Markham Public Library:

Join us for an evening of learning and fun to celebrate Pride Month! ArQuives, Canada's 2SLGBTQ+ archives is here, to teach us about the history of the 2SLGBTQ+ Community in Canada. There will be a fun and engaging trivia session as well and prizes to be won!

Thursday June 1st (7:00-10:00pm)

Did you know that Toronto has one of the largest Pride gatherings in the world? Learn about Toronto Pride’s roller-coaster history, and its impact on social acceptance and human rights starting from the 1970’s in this never seen before exhibition. Launched by ArQuives, Canada’s only national LGBTQ2S+ archive, explore photographs, print media, and other collection items at Collision Gallery in Toronto, as you celebrate the start of Pride Month.

Pride Durham:

Sunday June 4th

Durham Region wants everyone to know that expressing yourself and feeling a sense of belonging and inclusion is what Pride is all about! At Arbor Park in Ajax, the magic will include something for everyone: A multi-faith service, a Pride Parade, vendor fair – and mainstage entertainment!

The Distillery District Queer Marketplace:

Monday June 5th- Wednesday June 7th

Toronto’s Distillery Historic District will be showing up for this year’s Pride Toronto Festival 2023 with the launch of the first annual Distillery District Queer Marketplace! As you walk through the District, you’ll enjoy shopping, live entertainment, and more.

York Pride Parade:

Saturday June 17th

Pride returns to Main Street Newmarket to celebrate 10 years of the York Pride Parade and 23 years of Pride events in York Region! Showcasing the beauty and strength of York Region’s 2SLGBTQ+ Community, the event is features 2,500 marchers and over 50 floats and groups. This year it’s expanded into a two-day festival – so you can catch your favorite music performances, Drag Queens, and more on the 16th.

Markham Public Library's Celebrate Pride Month: Book Showcase & Performance

June 20th (7:00pm-8:30pm)

We invite readers (18+) to celebrate Pride by joining a lively discussion about 10 of our top recommendations for books that feature LGTBQ+ characters and themes, hosted by drag queen superstar Gila Münster. The specially selected titles cover the spectrum of gender identities and orientations, including intersectional identities. Gila will also delight audiences with musical performances to add sparkle and glamour to the event.

Family Pride:

Saturday June 24th – Sunday June 25th (10:00am-5:00pm)

Celebrating diversity and the future for 2SLGBTQ+ parents, caregivers, and children – this magical two- day event held at Church Street Public School will feature face painting, a magic show, puppet show, storytelling, and more. Now in it’s 24th year, Family Pride will be a memorable event for the whole family!

PFlag York Region – Coffee Night:

June 28 (7:15pm-9:30pm)

PFlag Coffee Nights aren’t just for Pride month. Year-round, they provide a safe space where members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, their friends, family or allies can come together for support. This is a safe place to ask questions about sexual orientation or gender identity and expression – whether you’re “coming out” to your family and friends, or a parent who just learned your child is gay or trans – Pflag is there for you along your journey.
