Discovering Islamic Heritage Month 2026

This Islamic Heritage Month, take a journey through the rich history, cultures, and traditions of Muslim communities from around the world.

Islamic history is filled with stories of creativity, discovery, and cultural exchange. Across centuries and continents, Muslim communities have made contributions to science, medicine, math, writing, art, and architecture. Islamic culture has developed in many different parts of the world, with each community bringing its own traditions, stories, and perspectives.

Throughout October, there are plenty of opportunities to explore and celebrate Islamic heritage in our community. Aaniin is hosting a special art exhibit shared by ISNA Canada, offering visitors a chance to discover Islamic art and culture through the works on display. At Markham Village Library, you can explore the art of Islamic calligraphy through a special workshop, while Milliken Mills Library is hosting a storytime and activity for families to learn and celebrate together.

Alongside these events, stop by any of our 8 library branches to explore our featured books and resources and discover stories, authors, and perspectives from across the Muslim world.
